Having the Best Time

Apologies for absence. I've been working quite hard, catching up with friends all over Scotland, doing tons of stuff with the kids, and just chilling out (i.e. reading books and watching the Olympics). Just come back from a long weekend on Skye with friends, followed by a drive through Glen Torridon on the way home. I think the photos say it all:

The Cullin, Skye.

The ridge above Staffin, north east Skye.

The hills of Torridon (on the mainland), from Skye.

Loch Torridon.

One of Glen Torridon's peaks, as viewed through the sunroof.

A rather distracting rear-view of Glen Torridon.

Loch Maree (and Kinlochewe) from the east.

It was just fab, and great source of story ideas!

OMG. I'm so jealous. It looks so gorgeous ... and how come your mirrors are so clean?

Isn't Scotland bonny!? I sometimes forget just how gorgeous it is! Thanks for the reminder!

Your photos made me proud to be Scottish!

I'm envious. I've never been to Skye - I hope to get there one day. Really glad you're having such a good time. Looks like the weather's not too bad, either.

JJ - er, not sure about the mirrors. Can't confess to having washed them, but there's been little rain to do it for me (heh heh heh)!

Lane - Oh, the air, the air. It's as soft as the water.

Calistro - Thanks! I only wish they did the place justice. The real thing is oh-so more stunning.

Karen - Well, if you don't mind bunking in with the kids...!

Paige - Well said about the Scottish thing. I find folk often don't see their beautiful surroundings. The grass is always greener, and all that. I'm the same with the Sussex Downs - which are beautiful, but they don't stop me grumping on grumpy days!

Zinnia - The weather's been great on Skye - all year according to my friends. They had two solid months of sun in the spring. It's a great place to go. Really. Get there if you can.

Helen - I found the voices quite distracting too. All that dialogue, and no means of writing it down...

Pat - Hi! Thanks. Ditto what I said on Calistro's comment: the real thing is sooo much better. Book your holiday now!

Oh dear. I've never been to the Scotland before and now I really, really need to. Stunning photos, I don't know how you'll manage to drag yourself away.

Can you see my green glow from there?

Miles Away - You can come to Scotland. Where there's a will, and all that...

Debs - What? You've never been to Scotland? Well, that's your holiday for 2009 sorted then!

Tam - I am very envious of your singing teacher. It is a lovely island, with lovely people.

Spiral - And I thought that was the aurora! Get yourself up here, honey. You won't be disappointed.

Annie - Thank you. I'm glad you know what I'm talking about!
