Improving Slowly

Oh, it's been a slow week. Not because my little darlings are on half term (I love having them at home), but because I am still recovering from flu. It's been weeks now. And weak is the word. I've been trying to rake up all last autumn's leaves in the garden (not to mention the hedge cuttings) and I've been such a wimpy wet about the whole thing: you know, put-a-few-handfuls-on-the-bonfire-and-go-in-for-a-cup-of-tea, that sort of thing.

Anyway, have been writing - new novel and shorties. Have also been subbing more (this is particularly good), and now have nine shorties awaiting rejection. All this courtesy of the Reconstructed Man who gave me two mornings off this week. Very nice.

So you see, things have been getting better. And then, this morning dear readers, I logged on to DJ's blog to find I have been presented with a very grand award: Overall Winner. I'm not quite sure what this means, as others have been awarded first second third and so on, but I am very pleased with it. Here it is, for me to show off.

Awwww, I'm sorry to hear you've been poorly...it takes ages to get over doesn't it!!

You have managed to be very productive...I'll keep my fingers crossed for your subs (and that your feeling back to normal soon)

Post-viral fatigue is crap. Don't push yourself too hard, you'll make it take longer. But progress with writing and subbing is ace, well done you!

I think you meant to say 'awaiting acceptance', not rejection. That will be your post-viral mind playing tricks on you xxx

It means your captions were better than everyone else's, which they were.
Have you thought about getting a composter rather than burning your leaves? We got one about two years ago but the leaves haven't started composting yet. Perhaps I haven't found the on switch.

The post viral things is almost as nasty as the viral thing itself so don't overdo it.

Big congrats on winning the caption comp and huge congrats on having nine shorts out there. Agree with Helen - you got words mixed up:-)

Hope you're feeling much better soon. Mind you, you've done well on the writing front despite feeling so poorly.

Congratulations on your lovely badge from DJ, it's great.

Flu is horrid and it can take about 2 months to get over, or so I read. It took me a good month to feel 100%. Feel better soon :)

Carol - Thank you. Am feeling better by the day, but only a little tiny bit better. It's very frustrating.

Queenie - Ah, I'd forgotten it has a name. That's good. I'm entitled to feel ill then!

Helen - Oh, yes. That's right. Silly me ;-)

Troy - Oh, but God you made laugh with the one about George being ribbed by his co-workers... ha ha ha!!!

Lane - Actually, since the post came this morning, I only have seven shorties awaiting rejection. :(

TF - Thanks, hon. You're quite right, of course.

Debs - Thank you. I reckoned that if all I could do was sit around, I might as well keep busy, eh?

Lily - Yes, a friend of mine said it took her a month to get over it. Oh, well. I've done three weeks now...

...and a well-deserved win it was, over at dj's.

Flu, it's a real pain and a downer isn't it? Here's wishing for your continuing recovery.

Sounds like you have post viral syndrome honey. Don't push yourself it can take months to recover. It gets worse if you push yourself so be NICE to you. Don't make me have to nag you now... Your stores are awaiting acceptance, not rejection! *tsk, tsk* Oh that has reminded me I need to email you but keep forgetting. xo

Leaf mould is very good for gardens, so just leave it where it is!

Flu is horried. Hope you finally get over it soon. I find chocolate helps :0)

Take is easy and slowly, Leigh, not too much leaf raking.

Well done on getting those stories out there, I look forward to hearing about the acceptances.

I love how your blog title worked with your post title. That alone made me want to read.
