I used to be lethargic, but I can't be bothered anymore...

In fact, having shaken myself out of a long-term stupor, I find I can be bothered to do all sorts of things.

Today, with a certain degree of motivation, I finally switched various suppliers/tariffs - having known for years that we were probably paying too much for some services. From January/February 2009, I will be saving £50 a month on electricity, £15 a month on my mobile (including a extra fiver off for suggesting a move to Orange), £25 a month on the home phone, and £5 a month on broadband. That's...er...£85 a month saved...

I'm a bit gobsmacked, actually.

Are you a super service-switcher, or a lethargic lazy-lumpkin?

Blimey way to go! Unfortunately, over here we don't have much choice where services are concerned so we have to stick with what we have most of the time.

Lethargic lazy lumpkin - how did you guess?

I'm a half n halfer, I've saved myself money by switching some stuff, then just given up on being bothered changing the rest of it...

methinks I need to improve.

A lethargic lazy-lumpkin without any doubt. I often look at that great money saving website that Martin something or other hosts... and then hope the fairies will come along and do all the work to change it over.

Oh, you are good. I never care about these things which is silly as that money could be used for all sort of of naughtiness I can't afford right now.

I'm strangely impressed by your thriftiness :0)

Well I'm definately a lazy lumpkin, but thankfully my husband isn't. He changes suppliers every few months to get a better deal. I sure lucked out there!

Debs - Oh, that's hard luck. I realise that while it is a bother to make all the changes, it is at least good to have the choice.

Lane - And may the stupor-shaking spread!

Helen - No! Really?

Jo - That's more the way I usually am. I have a little dabble, and then get bored. I usually lose interest just at the point where they actually want some money.

JJ - Perhaps if you leave your teeth under the pillow, the fairies will do just that. Though, whether or not it's worth your teeth, just to be a lazy lumpkin, is another matter. ;-)

Spiral - Well, that's the thing, isn't it? Just how much chocolate can one buy for £85 a month. Or Colin Firth DVDs come to that.

Michelle - A bargain-hunting man? That's got to be every woman's dream!

£50 a month on electricity! WOW. How high were your leccy bills to start with? I'm with British Gas for my electricity and they used to charge me £29 a month but recently reduced it to £5 a month. I've got a feeling a big bill awaits me the next time they actually check my meter!

I confess I'm a super service-switcher. Well done you :)

That is quite impressive!

Calistro - They put it up to £95 from £65 a month, and I bet they did it to everyone. No doubt, not everyone will have noticed straightaway (or been bothered to do anything about it), and they (EDF) will have creamed in an extra million or so in the meantime. Improved their cash-flow no doubt. Didn't do much for mine! £5/month sounds more like it!

TF - Thank you. I am very much enjoying the feeling of having told them all to stuff it!

DJ - Yeah, a bit mind boggling really!
