The Importance of Good Elocution

Now, the small girl's articulation is not quite up to public-speaking standards yet, and occasionally I have trouble understanding her. One such occasion was this morning when, while giving her a cuddle, she pointed to my shoulder. The conversation went like this:

SG: Your pretty cardy. I go snuggly.
ME (smiling): Is it snuggly?
SG (laughing): No, it's not snuggly. I go snuggle it.
ME (having another go): You're snuggling it?
SG (squealing): No, I no snuggle it. I got snuggle it.
ME (puzzled now): I'm sorry sweetie, I don't understand. What are you saying?
SG: Your pretty cardy. I got snot on it!
ME: Ah...

Oh dear. Yes, one of the problems with small children - snot, I mean, not elocution.

JJ - Oh, I long for the days when I can go out without having to first check the shoulders for snot!

No, Cally. Someone has to laugh!

Helen - Yeees...mostly!

Jen - Well, I am too, so it's okay!

Lane - Ha ha ha! There's always one, isn't there - and how often is it you? ;-)

Ah.

Now that reminds me (horribly) of the time I was babysitting a friend's little girl and she kept pointing and saying "boo-boo." I looked everywhere for this bloomin' "boo-boo" as she was getting quite agitated, until I realised she was actually holding her finger out and saying "poo-poo."

Oh yes. The joys of childcare. When do they begin?

Oh, Karen, the stories about poo...I could tell you some of those. Yours, however, is a fine one and I shall add it to my repertoire if you don't mind!

Aw, bless!
And it always is a pretty cardie, isn't it, and you never quite feel the same about it again!

Hope it's washable!

Maddie - Mmm, I don't think I have anything that hasn't been snotted, sicked over, weed on, or worse! One day, I'll have a wardrobe full of nice clothes!

Kate - Ho ho! Everything's washable in this house! (Thanks for coming to visit!)

I'm a giggler too. Out of the mouths... and noses, too, it seems!

Oh no! I sympathise. I don't think I've been able to wear a "pretty cardy" for approximately seven years and four months, ie when I became a mother.
One day, Leigh, we'll be glamourous and snot-free again, one day!

ha! well, a cardy isn't FULLY pretty until it has one of those snot brooches, is it??

Zinnia - and every other orifice...

Lucy - I sometime feel that my the time my kids have stopped dribbling on me, I'll be dribbling on me...

Rebecca - Welcome back! Yes, a snot brooch on one side, and a suitably-shaped vomit stain on the other. Mmm. Nice.
