The Novel Race - They Let Me In!

As if posting my targets for 2008 wasn't enough of a commitment, I'm in the Novel Race [gulp].

I have committed to complete the first draft of Bully's Boy (which is novel no.2, and the sequel to no.1).

If I have time [ha ha ha] I will get serious about All For Fabien (novel no.3), and just in case I finish that one, I have up my sleeve ... [peers up sleeve] ... Going with the Flow (novel no.4)!

Now you might think that this is a bit optimistic, but I can type at nearly 65wpm, and get an hour-and-a-half every evening in which to write (assuming himself doesn't want supper, I've done all the washing, the children have put away their toys, etc.). So, allowing for a couple of evenings off a week, I should get three novels written in about, oh, ten weeks. Easy!

Anyone spotted the deliberate mistake yet?

Yaay!! Welcome to the Racers Leigh! Which race have you opted for? You could probably race in any of them with your output!

I'm not going to do the sums but ten weeks?? Surely only five!

Hooray! Congrats on joining, lovely to have you as part of the group. The deliberate mistake? Ummm....assuming you'll have any hours in the day to write!

You haven't allowed any time for sleeping, eating and breathing...

Good luck! :)

Woo hoo - how brilliant that you're in the Novel Racing gang.

There's no time for sleeping, eating or breathing when you're in the Novel Racers. They did tell you that, didn't they? ;)

Welcome to Novel Racers.

Me, I allow 13 weeks per novel. Gives me the time to work slowly and maybe take on a few side projects along the way. Lazy, I know.

Yes, surely you should be working on at least five novels at once shouldn't you? :)

Good luck, Leigh!
I feel overwhelmed just reading about this.

Thanks, Lane. I'm going for the new first-draft! When you say "output" don't you actually mean "lack of output?"

Thanks, Cally. It's nice to be part of it all after lurking for so long! And hours to write? Well, there's the rub. Now hours to think about writing...that's another thing!

Karen, I do get to do a bit of eating and breathing, but the other...I could do with some more of that!

Thank you, Jen! Unfortunately, breathing I need to do, eating I could do with less of, and sleeping, well, best not mentioned in this house.

Hello Kevin K! I can see that you've planned your schedule to leave plenty of time for blogging. Smart. I like it!

Well, Helen, you there is [whispers] a fifth one; but I haven't dared mention it yet. It lies unwritten along with all the others...

Thank you, JJ!!!

Thanks, Maddie. Yeah, me too!

I'm late again!! Welcome to the Novel Racers. I hope you're more productive than I've been so far - and that should be quite easy! :)
